EMO Trans Lands At Amelia Island
EMO Trans is readying its big Annual Meeting. This year, it brings the world of EMO to a paradise destination called Amelia Island, located near Jacksonville, Florida, beginning this Friday March 17. FlyingTypers caught up with Jenni Frigger-Latham, EMO Trans Vice President, Sales & Marketing, who offered a preview of the grand event.

Business Solid & Moving Up

“Firstly,” Jenni said, “The first two months of 2017 delivered solid business and growth, with particularly strong numbers in the U.S. and Chile, as well as throughout Asia.
“We are happy for such good fortune and keenly aware that these gains strengthen our position as we face an uncertain geo-political climate and a changing industry.”

Singapore Foundation For Global Meeting

“Our meeting in Singapore last November was very successful, and the momentum created among us is already evident in our positive results so far.
“Our upcoming global meeting at Amelia Island will leverage this energy and continue our focus on sales strategy and growth.
“Connie Ash from our Freeport office and all the presenters at our annual meeting are working in earnest to deliver a robust and productive meeting.
“Also on the program will be reaction and further news about EMO Trans’s new, innovative interactive website that debuted late last year.

The Big Picture

EMO Chairman Jo Frigger, with a cautious note and a close watch on developing business worldwide, declared:
“We continue to expand in our existing locations throughout Asia, Europe, and North and South America.
“Special emphasis is being given to strong business development, with additional investments in our global sales teams.
“We also have a focus on the growing e-commerce segment of our industry; this will create additional opportunities to increase business.
“Looking ahead in 2017, there are exciting prospects for interaction with Asia for all of our worldwide locations,” Jo Frigger declared.
Today EMO Trans comprises affiliated offices in 120 countries and has grown both organically and exponentially during the past decade, having steadily implemented an impressive and expansive menu of customized global logistics solutions for over 50 years.
“We are proud to deliver the personalized service of a privately-held company with the robust infrastructure of a multi-national leader,” Jo Frigger concluded.

Progress Is Our Most Important News

“Investing in cutting-edge technology, participating in the exponential growth of e-commerce, aligning our worldwide sales teams for a more focused approach to business development, and strengthening our global network are top priorities going forward,” said EMO Trans President & CEO Marco Rohrer.
“We made significant strides in these areas in 2016.
“In order to provide clients with better supply chain solutions, we improved reporting capabilities and refined the global RFQ process.
“EMO Trans also established a global procurement strategy to secure more competitive pricing.
“On the technology front, we launched a new mobile app, made great progress with our portal, and delivered a redesigned, user-friendly website as 2016 came to a close.
“All EMO Trans initiatives are designed to help us better serve clients by retaining the flexibility and responsiveness of a small local forwarder, but with all the tools and resources of a larger enterprise.
“We have the most dedicated employees in the industry, an enduring quality that has had a huge impact on EMO Trans’s success.
“We hope to lift our brand and industry recognition to new heights in 2017,” Marco Rohrer said.

Taking Things Personal

“We are all looking forward to seeing our friends and partners at Amelia Island,” Jenni said.
“The goal is to align our vision and work together to deepen our position in the market while resolving any challenges we face along the way.”

Greater Connectivity

“At EMO Trans’s Global Meeting, as we discuss new opportunities and new ways of serving our customers, we will also be previewing a number of new and updated infrastructure initiatives.
“Most notable is our internet portal project, which will take our partner contact with customers to a whole new level of connectivity.
“We firmly believe that innovation is key to keeping up with the way our customers do business,” Jenni noted.

Amelia Island Beautiful From Every View

Located just off the coast of northeast Florida, Amelia is a 13-mile barrier island that has long been a beloved destination for visitors and residents alike.
Named for Princess Amelia, daughter of King George II of England, Princess Amelia’s major claim to fame is having the eponymous island named after her.
Over the past 350 years, eight flags have flown over Amelia Island: French, Spanish, British, Patriot, Green Cross, Mexican, Confederate, and United States.
EMO Trans conferees undoubtedly will find time to golf and enjoy the local beauty and ease of life in between their hard working, total contact sessions.
The oldest saloon in Florida is in Amelia Island.
It’s still in its original location and legend has it that during Prohibition, the Palace Saloon was the last bar in the country to close.
The Palace sold ice cream during the prohibition years (or so it was said…).

A Collaborative Journey

“We are on an important journey together,” Jenni Frigger-Latham said.
“Whether employee, partner, or a valued customer, our view is that everyone is important to EMO Trans and vital to our development and growth.
“Our goal is to support and further develop our transportation resource so that everyone has the opportunity to build success upon success by getting the best out of our global infrastructure.”

Biggest Infrastructure Project In Turkey

“Istanbul New Airport, the greatest infrastructure project in the history of Turkey, opens its first phase in quarter one 2018, offering unbeatable competitive advantages over the Gulf airline hubs,” declared IGA Airport Operation CEO Hüseyin Keskin (pictured above). The builder and airport operator, IGA Airport Operation is currently attending Marché International des Professionnels d'Immobilier (Mipim) property market meetings in Cannes, France, this week.
In a place where civilization and its structures date back to antiquity, Keskin’s statement should stir up excitement around the project.
“Istanbul New Airport will reduce flight time and offer flexibility to utilize a variety of aircraft of diverse capacity.
“The new airport will also deliver considerable cost advantages, whilst contributing to competitive superiority.
“From Istanbul, it is possible to reach more destinations than any other competitive hub!” Hüseyin Keskin said.

Boston Has The Seafood Mama

They Got The Seafood, Mama
Seafood Expo North America and Seafood Processing North America will soon launch its annual show next week (March 19-21, 2017) at Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the best annual shows for business leads, business decisions, and just plain fun. The events boasts more than 19,000 visitors and 1,000 exhibits from more than 100 countries.

Business & Orders For Transportation

Seafood Expo is wall-to-wall decision-makers from all parts of the food chain.
There are manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers, shipping experts, and container manufacturers by the score at Boston Seafood Expo.

Dining On The Hoof

In addition to meeting up with guys in air cargo perishables from the world over—Scotland to the Cone of Chile—Seafood Expo exhibitors offer up samples of some of the best dining on the hoof imaginable.
      What a scene.
Twenty-ounce draft in one hand, skewered shrimp in the other, Zantac within reach, then back to the airplane ready to take on the world.

Bigger Every Year

“We’ve had very positive feedback from every group involved in the show,” Liz Plizga, Group Vice Presdient, Diversified Business Communications, the company that produces the event, told FlyingTypers.
“The seafood community recognizes that the Boston Seafood Expo consistently provides the most progressive and comprehensive forum for knowledge-exchange and networking.
“Boston Seafood Expo is not only a show with a great history, it is one of the most effective marketing tools for reaching the seafood business community,” she said.
“Reports state 91 percent of seafood in the United States is imported from other countries, showing promise to international companies looking to expand their foothold. Regionally, there is notable influx in new participation from Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, Morocco, and Spain,” Liz Plizga said.

Doing The Most Good

“This event provide[s] an opportunity to meet with a great deal of potential customers in a very short period of time,” said Soren Kaplan, Wall Street Journal best-selling author of the book Leapfrogging.

New Products

A much anticpated part of the Boston Seafood Expo is The New Product Conference, providing seafood buyers a look at the latest value-added products, new species, packaging, and services.
A panel of industry buyers screens products based on uniqueness and appropriateness to the market and chooses several winners from various categories for the Annual Seafood Excellence Awards (SEA).

Donations To Help The Needy

Another nice tradition at Seafood Expo comes at the close of the show. Hundreds of exhibiting companies donate more than 20,000 pounds of fresh seafood leftover from the show, providing many thousands of meals for hungry men, women, and children throughout Eastern Massachusetts via the Greater Boston Food Bank.
The National Fisheries Institute is the official sponsor of the Seafood Expo North America and Seafood Processing North America.

St. Patrick's Day Header
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with these words as you lift your glass to friends and family:
May the road rise up to meet you
And may the wind always be at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
And the raindrops fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the small of his hand.

A GREAT DAY FOR THE IRISH
There may always be an Ireland, and beyond that lovely prospect, always hundreds of parades around the world to celebrate March 17th.
But from 11:00 a.m. until about 3:00 p.m. on an island called Manhattan, a green stripe runs down the middle of Fifth Avenue from 44th to 86th Street for The St. Patrick’s Day Parade, one of New York City’s greatest traditions.
On St. Patrick’s Day a kind of wonderful delirium takes over Gotham.
     Everyone is Irish!
The annual procession marches up Fifth Avenue, past St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 50th Street, all the way up past the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 83rd Street.
New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day parade began before there was even a United States of America; the first march in Manhattan was held on March 17, 1762, when Irishmen from Ireland’s Revolutionary War brought the tradition here.
Military units continued to march each year until after the War of 1812, when local Irish fraternal and beneficial societies began sponsoring the event.
In those days, the parade was quite small, marching from local Irish meeting halls to Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Lower Manhattan on Mott & Prince Streets.
By 1851, the groups had banded together, nominating a Grand Marshall and increasing the size of the parade.
This was when the Irish 69th Regiment (now the 165th Infantry) became the lead marchers, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians became the official sponsor.
     We love St. Patrick’s Day.
It’s when the “Irishrey” of New York come out in full celebration. Look into the faces of the uniformed services, especially the NYC Firefighters, and you will understand it immediately.
We also like that St. Patrick’s Day Parade remains true to its roots by not allowing floats, automobiles and other commercial overkill.
Marching, great bands, and bagpipes fill the air as more than 150,000 people from all over the country and the world celebrate in New York.
This year 2017 we will be on the road Friday, March 17.
But in between trips we slipped over to Tommy Maloney’s in Long Island City, New York (www.tommymaloneys.com), which has the best real Irish corned beef, puddings and also boiling bacon (our most favorite).
We gathered the clan this past Sunday and ate the traditional dinner until our hands got tired, loving every second of it.
Then we pulled out the family album, laughed until we choked a couple of times, and ate some more!
     HAPPY SAINT PATRICKS DAY 2017!
