As TIACA Air Cargo Forum meets in Miami next
week, a sought after new addition to the top management scheme at a major
airline, that everybody is wondering about is Peter Penseel who landed
in Atlanta as SVP and President Delta Cargo on June 1, 2024.
Delta will be well represented in Booth
551 at The Air Cargo Forum inside The Miami Convention Center.
Peter hails from the Netherlands, the place
where maybe it's something in the water, driving a culture for air cargo
that has delivered some of the brainiest logisticians in the world.
Peter is a triple threat, having chalked
up three decades plus of experience in pivotal roles across the air cargo,
freight forwarding and logistics sectors.
He
served as the Chief Operating Officer – Airfreight at CEVA Logistics,
held positions at Qatar Airways Cargo, DHL Global Forwarding and UTi Worldwide
(DSV A/S).
Peter carries not only a solid reputation
for results, but this flying Dutchman is also a consummate professional
and a nice guy.
With Miami serving as a backdrop, cargo
people who have not already met him, will experience someone who has a
tiger by the tail ,and in short order has set a tone of excitement and
possibilities into the air cargo fortunes of a great airline.
We asked Peter three basic questions of
his first four months atop Delta Cargo.
What Did You Discover At Delta
Cargo?
“Since joining Delta Cargo, I’ve
discovered an incredible level of commitment across our teams to deliver
for our customers.
“Every day, I see the passion and
resilience that drives us to innovate and go beyond simply moving cargo;
our teams are dedicated to creating seamless, reliable solutions that
connect people and products worldwide.
“This commitment underpins everything
we do and sets Delta Cargo apart in the industry.”
What Surprised You?
“What surprised me most,” Peter
said, “is the depth of collaboration that exists within Delta Cargo
and across the entire Delta network.
“Our team works closely not only with
each other but also with our customers and partners to anticipate challenges
and adapt quickly to industry changes. The collective focus on continuous
improvement and efficiency has been especially impressive; everyone is
dedicated to finding smarter ways to operate, create a more seamless experience
for our customers, and deliver on our commitments.”
Roadmap To The Future
“We’re excited about the future
at Delta Cargo," Peter declared.
“Looking ahead, we’re focused
on advancing our digital capabilities to provide more transparency and
convenience for our customers, continuing to invest in our operation,
and expanding our global reach. As the industry evolves, Delta Cargo remains
committed to leading with integrity, service, and a customer-centric approach,
and we’re looking forward to creating even greater value for our
customers and partners in the years to come.”
