Memorial Day 2022

              The moon gives you light,

               And my heart, O my soldiers, my veterans,
               My heart gives you love.

     I can never forget the year they filled Boston Common with flags, one each for every Massachusetts soldier that died in battle since the U.S. Civil War.
     Aside from being the Summer ’22 Opening Day for swimming pools, parks, and beaches across America, and the 106th running of the Indianapolis 500 Automobile Race, Memorial Day May 30th in the United States is meant to honor soldiers who left home but never came back.
     Walt Whitman’s beautiful words refer to “Veterans” but that hallowed day established in the 1930s, is observed November 11th and honors soldiers from everywhere.
     Memorial Day belongs to the dearly departed Americans, lest we forget.
      We extend our salute to all who serve(d) this greatest country in the world, while we continue to pray for peace on our planet.
