In The Picture
People often
comment about the pictures we publish in FlyingTypers and yes,
more than 80 percent of our pictures are originals, not pick-ups from
other sources.
FlyingTypers has the great honor
to include photographers like Charles Dharapak. Photos, Charles Dharapak

Charles Dharapak was born in New York
and studied print journalism and economics at New York University.
He joined the AP in 1995 as a staff photographer
based in Southeast Asia.
In 2002, he spent considerable time photographing
the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Since 2003, Dharapak has been based in
Washington, D.C.; he has been honored with many top awards for his great
pictures.
Here is a sampling. From a long stairway
shot up the side of a B747 as U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates boards
his military aircraft; to a winter’s day in Washington, D.C.,
with the Lincoln Memorial as backdrop; to the simple human gesture of
U.S. President Barack Obama; to some Texans whooping it up while watching
President Bush, Charles has the wonderful ability to capture really
unique and rare moments with perfect precision and a graceful interaction
between his eye and his lens.
We look forward to keeping you in the
picture with more photos by this great photographer and artist as our
coverage of air cargo unfolds in the future.
Speaking of artists,
here are several in a new YouTube
video featuring a song we hear with every cellphone call we receive—not
only is it our ringtone, but it’s also how we feel with everyone
we speak to, including you, dear readers.
