IAG Cargo Knows the Way to San Jose Swisseriffic Single e-AWB |
Beginning next year, IAG Cargo will prove it “knows the way to San Jose” with the launch of a new route between its London Heathrow hub and San Jose. On May 6, 2016, IAG Cargo begins daily operation of a British Airways B787-9, providing belly-hold capacity of seven pallets and 16 tonnes of lift. A route to the “Capital of Silicon Valley,” as San Jose is known, will greatly benefit hi-tech manufacturing businesses, as well as perishables markets such as grapes and strawberries. CEO of IAG Cargo Steve Gunning said, “IAG Cargo’s exceptional transatlantic network represents one of our major differentiators as a business. This latest route builds on this capability, connecting businesses from around the world with one of the most economically diverse and vibrant markets in the U.S.” |
Move over, paperwork jungle. Swiss WorldCargo is now offering the “e-AWB Single Process,” allowing acceptance of Single Process e-AWB shipments in Zurich, Montreal, Los Angeles, New York JFK, and Copenhagen. Six to eight more stations will be added by the end of this year, as e-AWBSP goes further into the Swiss WorldCargo network in 2016. “Forwarder First” is the name of the game according to a Swiss spokesman. “The ‘e-AWB Single Process’ makes e-AWB adoption much smoother for the freight forwarding community. “In fact, the Single Process allows the forwarder to tender all shipments to the airline without a paper AWB, even on trade lanes where a paper AWB is required,” said Paolo Tuzzi, manager Transportation Processes and e-AWB Project Lead. “Thanks [goes] to the collaborative efforts of our ground handling partners Cargologic, Swissport, and Lufthansa Handling and—during the pilot phase—our customers Panalpina, Brinks, Unitrans, Schenker, and Malca Amit.” |
