Bellwether
of the U.S. air cargo scene, Jack Lampinski, SWISS WorldCargo,
is moving into retirement just as the year wraps, on December
31, 2015.
Of all the cargo people you might meet,
Jack seems the least excitable, most relaxed person on the
line.
He has been casually fronting a sales program
in the greatest economy in the world for the most exacting
“Swiss-efficient” airline, which now kicks it
up a notch as part of the cargo mega force, Lufthansa.
But if any of that has affected Jack, we
cannot tell.
You see, Jack is what people in the 1940s
called a “Mohair Sam.” Like Bing Crosby of yesteryear
or Morgan Freeman of today, Jack Lampinski always takes things
one step at a time. He’s calm, collected, and ever able
to deliver the best result for airline and client.
How long did he keep that up? We figure
for well over 30 years.
“It will be different,” Jack
said, talking about retirement.
“But SWISS has been wonderful, and
they continue to be a great company to work for right down
the line.
“Maybe I’ll have some time to
get back to building furniture,” Jack said.
“Working with my hands has always
been a passion,” he added.
A great spirit, a great man, Jack Lampinski
will be sorely missed in this business.
