Airlines will be rescheduling its flights to operate
between 5 am and 9pm to and from Colombo
International Airport with immediate effect until
further notice. Full details of flights affected will be published
shortly, but in the meantime reservations staff are contacting passengers
traveling within the next 48 hours on rescheduled services to advise
them of the revised timings. Peter Hill,
CEO said, "We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused to our
customers as a result of our decision not to operate into and out
of Colombo International Airport between 9pm and 5 am, however the
safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft is our prime concern and
one that we will not compromise on under any circumstances." |
Continental
Airlines moves debut of nonstop service between its
New York hub at Newark Liberty International
Airport and Mumbai,
India to October 1 instead of October 30 as originally planned following
positive buzz. Continental will initially operate the service four
times a week—departing New York Liberty on Sundays, Mondays,
Fridays and Saturdays -- with the frequency increasing to daily service
effective October 28, 2007, subject to government approval. Continental's
New York Liberty-Mumbai flights will be operated by Boeing 777-200
aircraft. |
"We
were in preliminary talks with Boeing,
but Airbus gave us a
better deal," T. Venkattram Reddy,
chairman of Flyington Freighters,
told a Reuters reporter on the sidelines of the signing ceremony
with Airbus. So Flyington Freighters orders Airbus A330-200 freighters
with a firm order for six aircraft. In 2009 Flyington will be world’s
first operator of the new aircraft. Airbus says A330-200F is the only
mid-size, long-haul all-cargo aircraft capable of carrying 64 tons
over 4,000 nautical miles / 7400 kilometers in "range mode"
configuration, or 69 metric tons up to 3200 nm / 5930 km in “payload
mode.” |
Makeover marketing campaign at Delta

is painting aircraft looking to improve their look to a new younger,
more forward thinking product. But for many who awaited return of
Delta's triangular shield logo, known as "the widget," to
the tail of its jets, apparently that ship has sailed or at least

Atlas Air
Worldwide Holdings, parent to Atlas
Air and Polar Air Cargo
reported first-quarter net income of $6.2 million, reversed from a net
loss of $3.7 million in the year-ago quarter, on revenues of $353.6
million, a record. President and CEO William
Flynn said: "Our active asset management
and continuous improvement initiatives are yielding measurable gains
in our margins and operating efficiency and enhancing our earnings."
AAWW's fleet size during the quarter was 32.7 aircraft (average), down
16.2% from same time last year, while aircraft utilization increased
18.7% to 10.7 block hours daily.
DHL
recently announced introduction of Trade
Advisory Services in India
covering a wide range of services in effect expanding the global DHL Global
Trade Services (GTS) platform. Trade Advisory Services complements three
features of the DHL Global Trade Services, including Importer and Exporter
of Record Services, Customs Brokerage Services, and Trade Automation Services.
DHL says since launch in late 2006, Global Trade Services has helped to
facilitate cross-border trading by helping businesses manage complex duty
regulations, shorten lengthy business processes. DHL Trade Advisory Services
is in partnership with U.S.-based company Sandler
and Travis Trade Advisory Services, a customs and trade
consulting firm.

Don’t
look now, but Britain
surrendered Hong Kong
ten years ago. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment
of the Hong Kong SAR Government, China gave two young Pandas to Ocean
Park Hong Kong, a marine-based theme park located
on the southern side of Hong Kong Island The giant pandas were born
in August 2005 at the China Conservation and Research Center for Giant
Pandas in Wolong, Sichuan.
Crown Worldwide (HK) Limited
was responsible for transporting these national treasures on April
26 to their new home, and the public will get to see them—as
well as AnAn and JiaJia, two giant pandas living at Ocean Park since
1999, beginning July 1, the day marking the 10th anniversary of the
establishment of the Hong Kong SAR Government. Crown Worldwide Group,
headquartered in Hong Kong, was established in 1965. Crown is a privately
held company with over 200 offices in 50 countries. |
Hai
Phong International Tourism Joint Venture Co. and
ViVa Macau Airline officially
launched an international air cargo service linking Hai
Phong and Macau
on Sunday, May 5. ViVa Macau is operating one cargo flight a day on
the route with a maximum load of 60 tons. However, in the first three
months of test operations, each flight will only carry from 3-5 tons
of cargo. The opening of the air freight service route marks a new
step forward in the development of Cat
Bi Airport in the northern port city of Hai Phong
as well as its cooperation with ViVa Macau Airline. The service will
also facilitate the export of goods from businesses in Hai Phong and
neighboring provinces. A direct air service between Macau and Hai
Phong was launched in September 2006. Since then, the Cat Bi airport
has received nearly 500 flights with about 40,000 passengers. |
