From Nightwatch To FlowerWatch |
Everybody knows that a Dutch master created the “Nightwatch.” Well, move over Rembrandt, as Air France KLM Martinair Cargo’s flower flow from Kenya is accredited FlowerWatch. FlowerWatch is an organization based in the Netherlands that aims to be the world’s leading authority in bringing flower supply chains all over the planet up to a higher standard, whilst facilitating continuous improvement. So recently at the International Flower Trade Expo in Nairobi, Kenya, AFKLMP Cargo received the FlowerWatch stamp of approval for all the fresh flowers they ship from Nairobi to Schiphol Airport. On a yearly basis, AFKLMP Cargo says it moves about 18,000 tons of fresh flowers from Kenya to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. “AFKLMP Cargo is the first airline group to receive this proof of quality and standardization,” said Eric Mauroux, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo’s Global Head of Perishables. “This is an important step towards further improvements in the global floriculture industry. “FlowerWatch has developed a fail-safe Quality Assurance system. “This system does not just identify challenges in the cold chain, it actually helps to permanently fix them. “We are strongly committed to maintaining our position as a front-runner in the temperature-sensitive market,” Eric The Cool said.
