Lady Lynn Steps Up At IAG Cargo |
Someone once asked Lynne Embleton what she would be doing now if she weren’t in the airline business. Ms. Embleton smiled and said: "My MSc project was on the mathematics of cheese making, so perhaps I’d have a cheddar business!” On Wednesday Ms. Embleton became CEO of IAG Cargo. Although she apparently has had little field experience (she served as a non-executive director of IAG Cargo from 2011 until 2015), Lynne has been at the centerline of IAG action, serving as director of strategy and on BA’s executive board. Ms. Embleton joined the airline in 1992 after gaining her MBA and MSc in Management Science. Along the way, Lynne has also served as a key figure in shaping the BA schedule and route network. Most recently she served as British Airways Managing Director at Gatwick, responsible for the launch and continued operations of BA’s important third gateway serving London. Today, Lynne steps up as the most powerful woman in the world of air cargo with the opportunity to add a clear and distinct voice to the global industry. Better cheddar will have to wait in the wings. Geoffrey |
